The Scales Library Media Center is an information resource center for Scales students, parents, and teachers. The school library program focuses on Arizona State Standards and information-literacy skills. Mrs. Trim is a full-time, certified teacher-library media specialist and instructs students to be “information seekers” during her weekly class lessons and in small group research time. Students may also visit the Library Media Center (LMC) on an individual basis.

Students learn how to find the “right kind of book for the right purpose” and learn to locate books, magazines, and other materials using a computer database search system. Students may use the Internet in library classes, in the computer lab, and in their classrooms. Students are encouraged to read for enjoyment and to develop personal interests as well as to meet requirements in research projects and schoolwork. The skills learned in the Scales LMC will help each library user to locate, evaluate, and use information effectively in school and in life.

Scales school staff encourages parents and children to set aside time for learning. Read together, visit the school and local library, and play educational games. Set goals for learning and enjoy creating memories together.
